The LAND (League Artists Natural Design) Studio & Gallery is one of the creative programs founded by the League Education and Treatment Center, generating and showcasing the art of our adults with developmental disabilities. The first of its kind in Brooklyn, the LAND gallery was created to give our adults the opportunity to express their creativity and to be recognized as talented artists.

LAND is committed to working with artistic partners to create dynamic and unique opportunities for our adults. From our animated film project, The Future to our visiting artists series through MoMA’s Access and Community Program, LAND encourages expansive artistic growth for our artists and gallery. We also work with retail partners such as J. Crew and Opening Ceremony to further showcase the accomplishments of our artists.

Take a rollercoaster ride to the moon. . . Ever wonder what a vacation on the moon is like? We have! The Future is a 12-minute animated film drawn and voiced entirely by the adult artists of the LAND (League Artists Natural Design) Gallery in Brooklyn, New York.

Our film imagines the future: What marvelous inventions will we create? Take a trip in the dream machine. Ride in a personal jet car. Feel the awesome power of planet love. Witness the robots who generate electricity. Fill up on organic pancakes in the kitchen of The Future! Take a cruise on the houseboat ship and a rasta roller coaster to the Moon! It’s all waiting for you in. . . The Future!

This community film project is part of The League Education and Treatment Center’s art program, LAND, a unique studio and gallery that nurtures adult artists living with disabilities. The League Education and Treatment Center was founded in 1953 with a mission to discover and nurture each child and each adult’s strengths and abilities www.leaguetreatment.org. THE FUTURE is directed by NYC animator M. Wartella, produced by Cathryn Zommer, and curated by Susan Metrican and Matthew Bede Murphy of the LAND Gallery.

Our non-profit project is only possible with YOUR support—donating is really easy! When you make a pledge to THE FUTURE, you’ll be asked to do a very short & simple (name/password) registration on Kickstarter which will link you to Amazon.com to accept your donation using your existing Amazon account. And, donations of $25 or more will receive a tax-deductible receipt after fundraising is complete! Finally, unless we meet our entire goal of $2,500, you will not be charged—but we hope to meet and exceed our goal with your MOST APPRECIATED support!

If you can’t donate to THE FUTURE today, you can still help out by posting this project on your Facebook page, and/or by forwarding our video to friends!
